Q: What is a "no-see-um"?
A: A tiny bloodsucking midge, AKA: "punkies", "sand gnat" or "culicoides
furens". They reside in your yard and feed on your blood!
Q: What is 20x20 screen?
A: Our standard screening constructed of vinyl coated fiberglass
yarn. The density measures 20 strands by 20 strands per square
inch. This mesh is denser than standard window screen and will
keep out the "no-see-ums."
Q: What is 40x40 screen?
A: Constructed the same as 20x20 but double the density. The
purpose of this product is to provide extra shading and is
commonly used in roof areas.
Q: Can the screen tear?
A: Yes, but not likely. The # 1 cause for damaged screen is
by landscape maintenance (weed-eaters). Pets can tear
screen but instances of this are extremely rare.
Q: What is Florida screen (AKA Florida glass)?
A: Screen that is laminated with a vinyl coating that creates a
solid plastic like material that is impervious to water. This
is NOT a recommended product of Porch Outfitters.
Q: Are building permits required to screen in your porch?
A: Yes, the Beaufort County Building Department requires a
permit for any exterior modification to your home, including
screening.
Q: If I don't have a covered porch can I add one to my
house?
|
A: YES! Solid roof screened room. These rooms are custom
built with a foam core roof panel which is shingled to
match your home. This is a great cost effective way to
gain outdoor living space while sheltering you from the
elements.
